Getting Started with Avoria: Your Journey With Us

At Avoria, we welcome families utilizing both private and government funding, including the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). We proudly support children and youth from 18 months to 17 years of age, whether they have a formal medical diagnosis or are simply seeking targeted developmental support.

Here is what you can expect as we begin our work together:

  1. 1

    Your Initial Consultation

The journey begins with a virtual consultation with our Founder, Alisha Chopra. This is a dedicated time to discuss your child’s unique strengths, their current skills across various areas of development, and your family's specific goals. We will also walk you through the benefits of our approach and what you can expect during everyday sessions. Following this meeting, we will carefully match your child with a dedicated, supervised therapist team.

  2. 2

    The In-Home Assessment

Next, a Registered Behaviour Analyst or Senior Therapist will conduct a comprehensive programming assessment right in the comfort of your own home. This visit typically takes 1 to 2 hours and involves both your child and a parent or guardian. Using recognized clinical assessment tools, we evaluate your child's current developmental level, identify meaningful areas for growth, and determine the recommended number of therapy hours to help them thrive.

  3. 3

    Individualized Program Design

Following the assessment, our team develops a highly individualized care plan built around your child’s unique strengths, ensuring they are set up for success from day one. We prepare all the specific strategies and activities needed to begin in-home sessions smoothly, ensuring their therapy is a natural fit for your family and setting the stage to make every step of their journey matter.

FAQ

Common questions

What is ABA therapy?

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based, highly individualized therapy that focuses on building essential life skills and fostering independence. By understanding how your child learns best, we use positive reinforcement to help them develop communication, social, and daily living skills. Because we provide our services right in your home, every strategy is tailored to fit your family’s real, everyday life, ensuring that therapy is a natural, supportive part of your child’s journey.

Here is what ABA looks like with our team:

  • Highly Individualized: No two journeys are the same. We design every program around your child's unique strengths, interests, and developmental goals.
  • Skill-Focused: We focus on teaching meaningful, everyday skills that improve quality of life, including communication, play, self-care, and social interactions.
  • Play-Based and Engaging: Therapy shouldn't feel like a chore. We integrate learning into activities your child naturally enjoys, making sessions fun and motivating.
  • Family-Centred: You are the expert on your child. We work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure the strategies we use in sessions can be easily carried over into your daily family routines.
How do we get started?

It begins with a free 20-minute consultation. From there we schedule an intake and assessment, then build your child's individualized plan.

What ages do you serve?

We primarily serve children ages 2 through 17, with programs adapted to each child's developmental stage and goals.

Do you provide services in a clinic or at home?

We believe that children learn best in the environments where they spend the most time. That is why Avoria is proud to offer in-home and community-based services. By coming directly to you, we can teach skills in your child's natural environment and ensure that the strategies we use easily translate into your family’s everyday routines.

Does my child need a formal autism diagnosis to receive services?

No, a formal diagnosis is not required. While we specialize in supporting children and youth with autism, our services are highly beneficial for any child facing developmental, behavioral, or learning challenges. If your child needs support with communication, social skills, or daily routines, we are here to help.
